Abstract

The year 2021 has been particularly difficult for all of us. In addition to the uncertainties of the pandemic and the changes in lifestyle habits, we had to endure the loss of cherished people. In our academic world, we lost Silvio Macedo earlier this year and now Jeremy Whitehand. I join the chorus of the new orphans of English urban morphology, grieving for the passing of our greatest exponent, but grateful for the lessons that his presence has left us.
